Aloha from YWAM Ships Kona to our January quarter student body and their families!

We have had an incredible start to the year in Kona and God is doing amazing things. We are experiencing unprecedented hunger for God in this student body, and Jesus has been touching hearts and changing lives in astounding ways. Our hearts overflow with gratitude for all that God has done, and all that he’s yet to do in our midst.

In light of the US Government announcing a state of emergency regarding the global COVID-19 Pandemic, the campus is working diligently to have the appropriate responses. We have a dedicated team and have been monitoring the ongoing government recommendations and updated travel restrictions. Our priority is ensuring the health and safety of the students and our community, and we will be following CDC and WHO guidelines.

As of today, Friday March 13th, we have made the decision to change all planned school outreach teams. We are encouraging all students and staff whose permanent residence is not Kona to return home. We recognise this is a time for families to be together and we want to honor that. We anticipate that many will want to depart over the weekend.

We will have a dedicated team and location on campus available this evening and throughout the weekend. As people make revised travel plans, please email them to

For DTS Students:
We are postponing our team outreaches and will connect and commission all students and staff going home into outreach in their home locations via online connections. Our nine-month outreach teams may still have opportunity to regroup and deploy together to their original assignments. More information will be forthcoming as this develops.

For post-DTS Students & Staff:
If you feel the need to return home, please let your leader know so that the proper arrangements can be made.

If you would like someone to call you please reply to this email with a phone number and we will have someone call you regarding the logistics of these decisions.
